Backwards Flight

Hummingbirds are the only birds able to fly backward. They can achieve this because they can they can bat their wings up to 80 times per second effectively giving them the ability to hover.

Hummingbirds Hitch

Until recently, it was not known how hummingbirds migrate. They are too small and fragile to make such a journey, but somehow they were doing it. Now it looks like they may actually cling to larger birds and hitch a ride.
